Since our last update, a lot of work has been carried out on the Gweedore wind farm project.

In the first quarter of the year all five turbine foundations were poured. Three of these foundations had to be piled. Non-piled foundations took 372m2 of concrete for the base and 44.5 tonnes of steal. Piled foundations took 320m2 tonnes of concrete for the base, 205m2 for the piles and 48.9 tonnes of steel.

All the high voltage 38kv cables and fibre were pulled into underground ducts from the wind farm substation to the 110kv substation at Ardnagceaparry and was all tested and approved.

The wind farm’s new substation was completed recently and is now being commissioned.

In early June the transport of all turbine parts started to arrive on site. This was all completed with no major issues.

Turbine erection started shortly after and the last turbine was completed on Saturday evening, the 27th of July.

Energisation was to take place on the 1st August but has now been postponed for a number of days. We are hoping to have the windfarm up and running and generating fully at the start of September.
